MORE ABOUT BEAULIEU ...
 Beaulieu is situated on a prehistoric site and antique Greek port of Anao. The town developed very well through the Romans, who built houses made of marble and mosaic. The conurbation was destroyed throughout the 3rd century. In the 4th century a small monastery was constructed from which the first abbey was Saint Hospice. The Lombards destroyed the monastery in the 6th century and the inhabitants fled to the peak of Saint-Michel (Grande Corniche). They didn't re-descend to their actual place until the end of the 13th century. Napoléon Bonaparte, conquered by the attraction of the site confirmed its name, originating in the 12th century, "Bellolocco", making it French from 1860 on and with that becoming Beaulieu.
1860: Beaulieu, borough of Villefranche, attracting English, French, Russians and many royals with its road and railway ... 1891: Beaulieu becomes an independent borough of Villefranche.
In the 19th century, Beaulieu, an elegant winter destination welcomed many famous people, which were fond of this "high" place of prestigious society. The more renowned are: LEOPOLD II, WILLIAM II, 1st PRINCE of Wales, Italian and Portuguese Royals, le Marquis of SALISBURY (British Prime Minister), MARINONI (inventor of the Rotary machine), Theodor REINACH (archaeologist who designed and constructed Villa Kérylos), Gordon BENNETT (owner of the New York Herald), Princess GALITZINE, Count of TOLSTOI and Gustave EIFFEL, just to name a few.
The First World War caused many illustrious inhabitants to leave, but also led to it starting its tourist vocation. The station grew in prestige of welcoming new monarchs and princes, GUSTAVE II of Sweden, Helen of Italy, Elisabeth of Belgium and LEOPOLD III.
Between the two wars, the economic and sociologic movements leading to the birth of a promising summer season. The sun must not only "warm up the winter season", from now on we ask it "to shine and tan the summer season".
In 1991, the first centenary of the community was celebrated .
